How It All Started
The Innovation Journey Of Singapore Enterprises
During Covid-19, a group of local food manufacturers under Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association (SFMA) developed and launched an e-commerce platform, Singapore Food United (SFU), to facilitate buying and selling of food products between members through a digital platform.
Inline with Budget 2023’s Enterprise Innovation Scheme, Singapore Innovation Centre (SIC) is setup with the vision to be the Go-To-Experts for enterprise excellence, lead in digital transformation roadmap, innovative creation for growth to foster cross border collaborations. SIC will also manage on-boarding more companies to leverage off the SFU platform and foster cross border collaborations across different industries.
Singapore Innovation Centre (SIC) is supported by the Singapore Food Association Alliance (SFAA) spearheaded by SFMA and 7 TACs – Confectionery Dealers’ Association, Singapore Bakery & Confectionery Trade Association, Singapore Noodles Manufacturers’ Association, Meat Traders’ Association Singapore, Seafood Industries Association Singapore, Woodlands East Industrial & Commercial Association and Bedok Industrial Association. The partnership will foster various stakeholders be it large, medium, small and micro in sizes together to work on projects that will benefit the industry.

Food waste is one of the biggest waste streams in Singapore and the amount of food waste generated has grown by around 20% over the last 10 years.
Other Waste Management Solution To Match Towards Future Plan Of Zero Waste Singapore :
– Electronic waste in Singapore is about 60,000 tonnes yearly equivalent to discarding about 70 mobile phones per person. Number increase with greater spending power and new technologies constantly replacing old ones.
– Packaging waste is about 1/3 of 1.6 million tonnes of domestic disposed. More than half of this packaging is made of plastic, but only 4% of plastic waste is recycled.
